Shimeji World ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at shimejiworld.com and the Shimeji World Chrome extension. We provide a library of animated desktop characters (shimejis) for browser use.

Information you provide via Google Sign-In:

• Full name and display name
• Email address
• Profile picture (avatar URL from Google)
• Google account ID (used internally as a unique identifier)

Information generated by your activity:

• Coin balance and transaction history (purchases and unlocks)
• Shimejis you have unlocked, downloaded, or liked
• Timestamps of the above actions

Information we do NOT collect:

• Payment card numbers or billing addresses (handled entirely by LemonSqueezy)
• Browser history or activity outside of shimejiworld.com
• Location data beyond what your IP address may indicate to Cloudflare

We use your information solely to operate and improve Shimeji World:

• To authenticate your account and maintain your session
• To track your coin balance and process unlock purchases
• To display your library of shimejis across devices
• To provide download access to shimejis you have unlocked
• To prevent fraud and abuse (e.g., rate limiting downloads)
• To respond to support requests sent to our email

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sell it to any third party.

We share limited data with the following trusted providers to operate the service:

We use minimal storage mechanisms:

• Session cookie — keeps you signed in across page loads. Cleared when you sign out.
• Theme preference — your chosen display theme (Light / Dark / System) is saved locally in your browser. This is never sent to our servers.
• Extension local storage — the Shimeji World extension stores character files and your active shimeji list locally on your device. This data never leaves your browser.

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal information (name, email, profile picture) and anonymise your transaction records within 30 days.

Coin transaction logs may be retained in anonymised form for financial record-keeping purposes as required by applicable law.

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Correction — request correction of inaccurate data
• Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated personal data
• Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format
• Objection — object to certain types of processing

Shimeji World is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Shimeji World after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. For significant changes, we will notify signed-in users via email.
