Terms of Service

By accessing or using Shimeji World (the "Service"), including the website at shimejiworld.com and the Shimeji World Chrome extension, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

To use Shimeji World, you must sign in with a Google account. By doing so, you confirm that:

• You are at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country).
• You will keep your account credentials secure.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
• You will not share your account with others or create accounts for the purpose of abuse.

Shimeji World uses a virtual currency called Coins to unlock premium content. Coins are purchased in packs via LemonSqueezy, our payment processor.

• No expiry. Coins do not expire and remain in your account until spent.
• Non-transferable. Coins are tied to your account and cannot be transferred, gifted, or sold.
• Non-refundable. All coin purchases are final once credits are applied to your account. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact us at support@shimejiworld.com within 14 days.
• No cash value. Coins have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for cash.
• Pricing. Coin pack prices and the coin cost per shimeji unlock may change at any time. Changes do not affect coins already purchased.

When you unlock a premium shimeji or add a free shimeji to your account, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use that shimeji character within the Shimeji World ecosystem (website + extension) for your personal, non-commercial use.

This licence does not include the right to:

• Redistribute, resell, or sublicence shimeji files to any third party
• Extract sprite files for use outside the Shimeji World extension
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or create derivative works from shimeji assets
• Use shimejis for commercial purposes without written permission

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Attempt to bypass rate limits, authentication, or access controls
• Scrape, bulk-download, or mirror shimeji assets without permission
• Use automated tools to create accounts or make purchases fraudulently
• Impersonate other users or Shimeji World staff
• Interfere with the operation of the Service or its servers
• Violate any applicable law or regulation

The Shimeji World platform, including its design, code, branding, and original assets, is owned by Shimeji World. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

Shimeji character files may be owned by their original creators. Shimeji World acts as a distribution platform and does not claim ownership of third-party character art. If you are a creator and believe your work is being distributed without permission, contact us at support@shimejiworld.com.

The Shimeji World Chrome extension is provided as a companion to the website. By installing it, you agree that:

• The extension runs on web pages you visit in order to display animated characters.
• Character files are saved locally on your device to enable offline playback.
• The extension communicates with shimejiworld.com to verify your account and unlocks.
• We may update the extension at any time to fix bugs, add features, or address security issues.

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or that the Service will meet your specific requirements.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Shimeji World shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including loss of data or coins due to technical failures.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct we reasonably believe is harmful to the Service or other users.

You may close your account at any time by contacting us at support@shimejiworld.com. Unused coins are non-refundable upon account closure.

We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify signed-in users of material changes via email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If resolution cannot be reached, disputes will be submitted to binding arbitration or the courts of competent jurisdiction.
